2. TREASURER’S REPORT:

Ken Wagoner reports that the Charity Account balance is $997.00. Main Checking Account balance is $894.38 for a total of $1,891.38. All bills are paid.

3.FPO REPORT:  

FPO information is always available at:  www.firepreventionofficers.org.    Bruce LeCair with NFSA reported that SoCal FPO’s hosted their Annual Christmas meeting in Brea, NorCal in Oak Grove. Next SoCal meeting is January 22, 2009 in Palm Springs jointly with CAFAA.

San Diego Fire Prevention Officers will host 2006 IFC & IBC Hazardous Materials Class on February 21, 2009 at the East Valley Community Center, class already filled. SFM bulletins regarding RECALL of Fire Alarm Panels and Fire Protection Equipment scam on the SFM website at http://osfm.fire.ca.gov/

4. EDUCATION REPORT:  

The San Diego Fire Protection Association continues to sponsor the Fire Sprinkler Technology Seminar Series.  This is a monthly workshop-style seminar series intended for AHJ’s, Plan Reviewers, Field Inspectors & Designers. The January education topic was plan review. Elley Klausbruckner graciously volunteered to instruct the next meeting (due to Ken being out of town) the topic will be storage occupancies.

Date & Location: Thursday, February 5, 2009 in the training room of Rancho Santa Fe Fire Department Station #2, 16930 Four Gee Road, Rancho Santa Fe, California.  The site can be reached by taking I-15 either north or south to Camino Del Norte, and exiting to the west until you reach Four Gee Road,and turn right.  The fire station is the first structure on the left.  Our December subject will be Hydraulic Calculations.

5. BURN INSTITUTE REPORT: 

James Floros was featured in the JanuaryEdition of the San Diego Business Journal Magazine.

Upcoming events:

  • “Camp Beyond the Scars” WINTER CAMP February 13-16, 2009 at Big Bear Lake,
  • Share Your Heart Mardi Gras Party February 28, 2009 at House of Blues Gaslamp Quarter;
  • Camp Beyond the Scars SUMMER CAMP scheduled for August 2-9, 2009 at Camp Fox.
  • Fire Expo at the Del Mar Fairgrounds – June 20th, 2009

For more information visit www.burninstitute.org  Burn Run/Fire Expo/SDFPA: There are two residential fire sprinkler booths that will be at the Fire Expo at Del Mar Fair Grounds this year, one is SDFPA Residential Fire Sprinkler information, and Ronnie Coleman providing additional information on residential fire sprinklers located next to the Burn Institute booth. 5. OLD BUSINESS/PAST EVENTS:

  • Website update: Events will begin to be posted soon, Mike has received more FD surveys but not complete as of yet.

6. UPCOMING EVENTS / NEW BUSINESS:

Dawn Robinson has accepted the position of Administrative Secretary for SDFPA with Terri Leyton being the Corresponding Secretary for SDFPA.

Golf Tournament:Input needed for two dates one being on Thursday 05/14/09 OR Saturday 05/16/09 (Thursday might be better for family commitments and Saturday usual day off of work and has been the day in the past). Please contact Mike Moffat or Chris Bohon with any recommendations on those days.

Elections for SDFPA Board of Directors upcoming. Any nominations to be submitted and nominees accepting their nominations by the meeting on April 14, 2009. Election to take place at the May meeting on May 12, 2009.

AFSA San Diego will have its quarterly meeting the first Wednesday of February 02/04/09; May meeting to have Steve Muncy as presenter on 05/04/09.

NFSA firstmeeting 02/03/09 with locations rotating.

7. PROGRAM: 

Review of the City of San Diego Fire Sprinkler policies and procedures was discussed. All recommendations for any changes or clarification are to be submitted with rationale in writing to Terri Leyton. At that time recommendations will be reviewed and addressed with the City of San Diego representatives.The association thanks Sergio Periera and John Rout from the City of San Diego Fire Department for their input and cooperation at this meeting.
