2. TREASURER'S REPORT: Ken Wagoner reports that the Charity Account balance is $11,976.26 General Checking Account balance is $1,573.85, for a total:  $13,550.11.

 

3. FPO REPORT:  Sam Husoe was absent, FPO information is always available at: www.firepreventionofficers.org.

4. EDUCATION REPORT: The San Diego Fire Protection Association continues to sponsor the Fire Sprinkler Technology Seminar Series.  This is a monthly workshop-style seminar series intended for AHJ's, Plan Reviewers, Field Inspectors & Designers.

For the August 3rd, 2006 class, we will have a special Guest Instructor, Mr. Gary Fessenden from Tyco Fire. Gary will be discussing the recently completed major testing program designed and executed by Tyco which developed practical test data on sprinkler performance in various scenarios, with particular emphasis on High Pile storage and Residential installations. 

Location: San Marcos Fire Training Center, Date/Time:  1st Thursday of Each Month, 8:00a - Noon

 

5. OLD BUSINESS/PAST EVENTS:  

  • San Diego FD Sprinkler Policy 04-08:  policy is finalized, look for publication!
  • SDFPA Elections - Votes have been tallied.  Your new 2006 - 2007 Board of Directors:
    • Chris Bohon, Ferguson Fire
    • John Durso, Schmidt Fire Protection
    • Steve Leyton, Protection Design & Consulting
    • Toby MacDonald, Western Fire Protection

Note: Lots and Lots of people voted for Ken Wagoner, but he elected to withdraw his name from consideration.  However, we are very pleased that he has consented to remain as our treasurer and instructor for our Fire Sprinkler Technology Series.

6. UPCOMING EVENTS / NEW BUSINESS:

7. PROGRAM:   Brant Brumbeloe, Editor and General Manager of FPC Magazine joined our group.  An informative discussion was held regarding trends in the Fire Protection Community.  Thanks Brant!

 

**MINUTES AMENDED 7/17/06**

Justin Gipson, Fire Marshal for the Chula Vista Fire Department spoke on their upcoming fee increase.  This fee increase will make its way to City Council before the end of this calendar year.  The fees will be effective sixty days from the date of Council adoption.  Fire Marshal Gipson has offered to meet with any Fire & Life Safety Contractors regarding this fee amendment.  Also discussed were the reasons for longer plan review time frames and consistency issues.  For any questions, please contact the Chula Vista Fire Department.
