2. TREASURER’S REPORT:

Ken Wagoner reports that the Charity Account balance is $1,488.00 Main Checking Account balance is $1,111.67 for a total of $2,599.67.  All bills are paid.

3.FPO REPORT:  

SDCPOA hosted a meeting March 18th with Bob Scott-Fire Marshal with the Encinitas Fire Department providing information on CCL/RCFE to discuss issues and concerns prior to the April 15th training with Ernie Paez of the State Fire Marshals Office this class was full with 74 attendees registered. A pyrotechnics class will be held May 12th at Qualcomm Stadium from 8:30-4:00, the morning session will be classroom, the afternoon session will be hands on in the parking lot, for more information or to attend this class contact Raquel Elias at Alpine Fire Department at relias@alpine fire .org.  FPO information is always available at.     www.firepreventionofficers.org and www.sdfpo.org

4. EDUCATION REPORT:  

The San Diego Fire Protection Association continues to sponsor the Fire Sprinkler Technology Seminar Series.  This is a monthly workshop-style seminar series intended for AHJ’s, Plan Reviewers, Field Inspectors & Designers. The March training was on seismic bracing. Ferguson Fire generously provided equipment for the class which was well attended. June training will be on backflow prevention devices.
Date & Location:   The first Thursday class for May was canceled due to scheduling conflicts, classes will resume June 4, 2009, with a presentation on backflow prevention devices.  For those of you who work with these valves you'll want to make it a point to be at this class in June in the training room of Rancho Santa Fe Fire Department Station #2, 16930 Four Gee Road, Rancho Santa Fe, California.  The site can be reached by taking I-15 either north or south to Camino Del Norte, and exiting to the west until you reach Four Gee Road, and turn right.  The fire station is the first structure on the left.

  • SD City Policy Committee will meet within the next two weeks in preparation for meeting with SD City.

7. UPCOMING EVENTS / NEW BUSINESS:

  • 05/12– SDPFA  Elections to take place. The 5 nominees are: John Durso-Schmidt Fire Protection; Steve Leyton-PD&C; Chris Bohon-Ferguson Fire; Scott Uren-Western Fire; Tim Loewer-Action Fire Systems.
  • 05/16 SDFPA Golf Tournament to benefit the Burn Institute at Carlton Oaks Country Club (more participants are needed!!!!!! Contact Chris Bohon.  Let’s send some kids to camp!!!
  • 05/19 FSCA Joint meeting La City Presentations by Orange County Fire Authority at Mr. Stock’s.
  • 6/8-11/2009, NFPA Chicago, Illinois
  • 10/14-18/2009, AFSA SAN DIEGO, CA.
