2. TREASURER'S REPORT: Ken Wagoner reports that the Charity Account balance is $2,103.90.  General Checking Account balance is $1,732.21, for a total of $3,836.11.  All bills are paid and annual dues are being collected.

 

3. FPO REPORT:  Sam Husoe reported on the Election of 2006 - 2007 FPO Officers.  He also reminded everyone that the CA Fire Prevention Institute's Annual Workshop is coming soon - March 14 - 17, 2006 at the SantaYnez Valley Marriott in Buellton, CA.  FPO information is always available at:  www.firepreventionofficers.org.

 
4. EDUCATION REPORT:   The San Diego Fire Protection Association continues to sponsor the Fire Sprinkler Technology Seminar Series.  This is a monthly workshop-style seminar series intended for AHJ's, Plan Reviewers,  Field Inspectors & Designers.

Location:           San Marcos Fire Training Center,  Date/Time:  1st Thursday of Each Month, 8:00 - Noon

Topics:              NFPA 13, 13D, 13R -  1999 and 2002 editions

§         February 11th was the Burn Institute's Casino night - great event!

§         FSCA meetings are considering a change in format.  Lunch meetings at Monterey Hill - stay tuned!

6. UPCOMING EVENTS / NEW BUSINESS:

  • FPC Magazine is looking for Articles on Inspections, Testing & Maintenance for their April issue
  • Brant Brumbeloe with FPC Magazine will be coming to speak to our group soon, please submit any questions for him, in advance to Mike Moffat
  • May 20, 2006 - SDFPA Annual Charity Golf Tournament
  • July 22, 2006 - Annual Burn Run Expo - Mark your 2006 Calendars!

7. PROGRAM:  Dan Ponchak, with Allied Tube  provided an informative presentation on the past and future trends in the steel pipe industry and how they may effect the Fire Sprinkler business.

City of San Diego Day

This month it is our pleasure to welcome back Mike Benoit, Fire Prevention Supervisor for the City of San Diego, and Sergio Pereira, Deputy Fire Marshal, City of San Diego.  Mike will be briefing the association on the pending implementation of the underground plan requirements as they relate to the sprinkler plan requirements, and Sergio will be briefing on the current Fire Sprinkler Policies (FS-0408).  Both will be available for questions after his briefing. 

In addition, Chris Bohon will report on our Third Charity Golf Tournament, including dates and sponsorship opportunities.

 

A FORUM FOR:       Sprinkler Contractors, Fire Alarm and Related System Designers, Contractors, Engineers & Equipment Suppliers, Authorities Having Jurisdiction-Fire Marshals, Plan Reviewers, Building Officials, and Inspectors.  Your attendance, support, and participation are appreciated.

 

MEETING:                Marie Callender's in La Mesa at 11:30am on Tuesday, March 14, 2006

 

RESERVATION:      The luncheon cost per person, member/AHJ is $10.00, non-member is $15.00 paid at the door.
