2. TREASURER’S REPORT:
Charity Account balance is $994.00, Main Checking Account balance is $1070.44 for a total of $2,064.44 All bills are paid.
3.FPO REPORT:
FPO information is always available at: www.firepreventionofficers.org.
- Bruce LeCair, NFSA reported that NORCAL FPO’s hosted their meeting in Elk Grove. SoCal and CAFAA had their annual joint meeting in Palm Springs. San Diego County Fire Prevention Officers Association hosted training: ICC Hazardous Materials on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 in Escondido. The next meeting will be held Wednesday February 18, 2009 at La Mesa Fire Department Station #11 in the EOC at 9:30 am, a presentation will be provided from Click2Enter, a scanner/radio technology that provides public safety agencies with a quick, safe, reliable, and stealthy means to activate gates, bollards, doors, or any security controlled mechanisms. Terri Leyton will provide an update on CA AFSA proposed training and Ray Bizal will provide information on the new NFPA Sprinkler Initiative.

4. EDUCATION REPORT: The San Diego Fire Protection Association continues to sponsor the Fire Sprinkler Technology Seminar Series. This is a monthly workshop-style seminar series intended for AHJ’s, Plan Reviewers, Field Inspectors & Designers. The February education topic was storage occupancies taught by Elley Klausbruckner. The next training will take place on March 5, 2009 (location TBA), the topic will be fire pumps with “hands on” training provided. April 2, 2009 will focus on hangers and sway bracing.
5. BURN INSTITUTE REPORT:

- “Camp Beyond the Scars” WINTER CAMP February 13-16, 2009 at Big Bear Lake,• SHARE YOUR HEART MARDI GRAS PARTY February 28, 2009 at House of Blues Gaslamp Quarter,
- Camp Beyond the Scars SUMMER CAMP scheduled for August 2-9, 2009 at Camp Fox. For more information visit www.burninstitute.org,
- BURN RUN/FIRE EXPO/SDFPA: This year the San Diego Fire Protection Association is pleased to assist with the Burn Expo to be held on June 20, 2009 at the San Diego County Fairgrounds. For more info on Fire Expo booths contact Terri Leyton. For more information visit www.burninstitute.org
- Burn Run/Fire Expo/SDFPA: There are two residential fire sprinkler booths that will be at the Fire Expo at Del Mar Fair Grounds this year, one is SDFPA Residential Fire Sprinkler information, and Ronnie Coleman providing additional information on residential fire sprinklers located next to the Burn Institute booth. 5. OLD BUSINESS/PAST EVENTS:
- An Ad-Hoc committee has been formed to review the policies and procedures for SDFD. Members of the committee are John Durso: Chair, Steve Leyton, Jack Thacker, Toby MacDonald, Ken Wagoner, Mike Moffat, Tim Loewer and Andrew Morland, Schirmer Engineering. A committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 1:00 pm, at Schmidt Fire Protection.
- Mike Moffat reported that the website is currently being revised and fire department surveys are slow.
6. UPCOMING EVENTS / NEW BUSINESS:
- 03/10/09 – SDFPA Meeting: Nominations for the Board of Directors will be accepted and nominees confirmed at the April meeting, and voting to take place at the May meeting. The Board of Directors will then appoint Officers. Marie Callendar’s, La Mesa, 11:30am. Nomination form is attached.
- AFSA-San Diego meeting – 11:30a February 18 at Seau’s. Ray Bizal of NFPA is guest speaker.
- NFSA-Southern California meeting – 4:30p February 19 at Rio Hondo Golf Club.
- FSCASC Joint meeting – 11:30a March 18 at Mr. Stox in Anahiem. Guest speaker is Tony Braga, chairman of the NFPA 13 committee on Hanging and Bracing.
- NFSA Annual convention – April 29-May 2 in Orlando, FL
- NFPA Annual Conference and Expo, June 8 – 11, 2009 in Chicago, IL, McCormick Place.
- SDFPA Annual Golf Tournament benefiting the Burn Institute to be held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Carlton Oaks Country Club in Santee.
- AFSA – Annual Convention will be held in SAN DIEGO from October 14 – 18, 2009. Information is available at www.firesprinkler.org, or contact Terri Leyton for more information.
7. PROGRAM:
